- preheat oven to 400 degrees farenheit.
- combine flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
- in a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
- beat in eggs and vanilla.
- add flour mixture.
- cover and chill while you clean up the table.
- provide each child with a sheet of parchment paper
- write the child's name on the parchment.
- remove the dough from the refrigerator.
- roll dough to a thickness of 1/4-1/2" on the lightly floured parchment.
- cut out desired shapes using light floured cookie cutters.
- transfer to a lightly greased cookie sheet.
- bake for 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven.
- cool completely.
- decorate as desired.
