| all-purpose flour (unsifted): 3 cups |
| baking powder: 1 Tbl |
| granulated sugar: 3 Tbl |
| salt: 1 tsp |
| beer: 12 fl oz (dark, imported, room temperature) |
| salted butter: 1 Tbl (melted) |
Hey, what happened to my last bottle of beer?!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a mixing bowl combine the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add the beer all at once, mixing a little as possible. Stir until all the flour is absosrbed. The batter will be slightly lumpy.
Pour batter into a 9X5X3 inch greased loaf pan. With clean fingers, smear melted butter over the top.
Bake about 1 hour or until golden brown on top. The loaf will make a hollow sound when you thump it on top when its done. Better to be a little over cooked than under cooked.
Remove from pan to cool.
Optional: sprinkle herbs on top before baking.
