1. For the salsa topping, in a small bowl combine tomato, 1/4 cup of the chopped onions, jalapenos, and bottled salsa. Cover and chill until serving time.
2. For the burgers, in a large bowl combine turkey, pork sausage, remaining 3/4 cup onions, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, salt, and pepper. Shape burger mixture in six 3/4-inch-thick patties.
3. For charcoal grill place patties on rack of uncovered grill directly over medium coals. Grill for 14 to 18 minutes or until an instant-read thermometer inserted in patties registers 160 degrees F, turning once halfway through grilling. For gas grill preheat grill. Reduce heat to medium. Place patties on grill rack over heat. Cover; grill as above. Top burgers with salsa mixture. Makes 6 servings.
4. *Note: Hot chile peppers contain volatile oils that can burn skin and eyes. Wear plastic or rubber gloves and avoid direct contact with chiles as much as possible. If your bare hands touch peppers, wash your hands well.
