Line cookie sheets with parchment and set aside.

In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla until well mixed, approximately 2 minutes.

IN a separate bowl, sift flour, and salt, and blend into butter mixture.

Stir in chips by hand.

Shape dough into logs about 2 inches long, and 3/4 inches wide.

Place on parchment lined cookie sheets and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Remove pans from oven and place on wire racks, allowing logs to cool completely on the cookie sheets.

To prepare coating:.

Melt chocolate chips and butter in microwaveor double boiler stirring every 15-20 seconds until smooth.

If mixture seems too thick, add more melted butter, and stir until smooth.

Put ground nuts on a paper plate or small bowl.

Dip logs 3/4 way into chocolate, scraping the excess from the back(flat side) of the cookie onto the side of the cup or bowl.

Roll or dip the coated log in the nuts.

Place on waxed paper to set.

Store logs covered in a single layer.
